Pregnancy and Dentistry

Many patients find when they are pregnant they suffer from bleeding gums.

This is known as pregnancy gingivitis Keeping your mouth clean, flossing especially and visiting your dentist for regular scales are of up most importance during this time.

Routine fillings and other treatment are usually delayed until after the birth.  Active decay can be  treated with temporary fillings whilst a patient is pregnant.

If you suffer pain from a tooth whilst pregnant, treatment takes priority.  Visit the dentist so emergency treatment can be carried out immediately.

Always ask regarding medications you can/cannot use during pregnancy and breast feeding if you are unsure of side effects.
